What Congress Said
Members who spoke about this bill on the floor, in their own words from the Congressional Record.

For the purpose of debate only, I yield the customary 30 minutes to the gentleman from Massachusetts (Mr. McGovern), pending which I yield myself such time as I may consume. During consideration of this resolution, all time yielded is for the purpose of debate only.
I rise in support of this Congressional Review Act resolution, which would overturn the Biden administration's reckless withdrawal of more than 225,000 acres in the Superior National Forest from mineral exploration and development.
I rise today in strong support of H.J. Res. 140, to reverse Public Land Order 7917, which enacted the Biden administration's dangerous mining ban in northern Minnesota.
I rise today in support of the Pregnant Students' Rights Act, legislation that affirms a simple but powerful principle: Expecting mothers should be encouraged to pursue their education like any other student.
What this bill does is really pretty simple. It ensures States will be able to continue to use TANF funds for pregnancy resource centers and the maternal care they provide to pregnant women and moms. That is it, Mr. Speaker.
As a former Secretary, I don't think anyone in this body has spent more time on Twin Metals reviewing the science than I have, so I think we should separate the hype from the science and the bull from fact.
I rise today to support my bill, the Pregnant Students' Rights Act. This is a commonsense piece of legislation because when Roe v. Wade was rightfully overturned in 2022, the next chapter of the pro- life movement began. We were all given the opportunity to help strengthen our support for unborn babies and for new moms.
For too long, previous Democrat administrations have weaponized the Department of Health and Human Services against pregnancy resource centers by attempting to cut off their Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, funding. This bill puts a definitive stop to that harassment.
From hearing my Democratic colleagues talk today, it is clear that none of them has ever been to a pregnancy resource center, and they certainly have never used their services.
I am here today to support the pregnancy centers across America, including Life Network in my home of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pregnancy centers offer hope, and they offer opportunity. They promote life and give necessary and lifesaving resources to struggling mothers and fathers.
I have spent my entire life caring for others, especially women and families in crisis. I have listened to their fears, and I have worked to make sure that they weren't facing those moments alone. That is why I rise today in support of H.R. 6945, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act.
Friday is the March for Life. It is a moment for compassion, common sense, and a commitment to our most vulnerable. That is why I rise today in strong support of the pro-life bills included in this rule, including
I sit on the Natural Resources Committee. We kept asking the other side, the opposition: Where would you like to have it? Have you been to a mine? Yes.
In tandem, the Pregnant Students' Rights Act communicates a simple truth to young women: The birth of your child is not an ultimatum of choosing to grow your family or continuing your education.
Title IX already protects the right of pregnant women to stay in school. However, many of them face a lack of resources and support. Some even fear punishment and a loss of scholarships simply for carrying their baby to full term while taking classes.
We had plenty of time last night in the Rules Committee to debate these awful, lousy bills: H.R. 6945, H.R. 6359, and H.J. Res. 140. I encourage everyone to look them up. Don't take my word for it.
It is no coincidence that this bill is being rushed to the floor this week as Republicans once again prioritize appeasing a national anti- abortion group in town for its annual rally instead of addressing the real crises facing American families.
I rise today in strong opposition to H.J. Res. 140, a resolution that would threaten America's beloved Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota.
I rise in opposition to this legislation, which risks polluting the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, as has been stated, our Nation's most visited wilderness.
This bill requires schools to provide pregnant students with information about on campus and community resources and accommodations to assist them in carrying a baby to term while they pursue an education.
Despite the grandiose title, Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, this bill carves out--let's keep the main thing to main thing. What it does, it carves out an earmark for an industry with a narrow ideological mission to provide, I guess what I call anti- abortion, but Mr.
Today I rise in strong opposition to H.J. Res. 140. This resolution would permanently allow copper sulfide mining in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
Like so many women across the country, I struggled for so many years to get pregnant. My husband and I tried everything that we could do to start a family of our own. Being a mom for me was what I always wanted to do. I wanted to be the best mom that I could be.
Then we get the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which is another nice name but another ugly attack on women. This bill allows red States to siphon cash assistance meant for food, rent, and childcare into unregulated crisis pregnancy centers, places that masquerade as medical clinics.
I think it is shameful that my Republican colleagues have brought this bill to the floor to funnel money to so- called crisis pregnancy centers and away from programs that truly help families in need.
In their incessant drive to impose a national ban on all forms of abortion, Republicans continue to block relief for millions of Americans who are struggling with soaring ObamaCare health insurance premiums. Now, today, they offer this bill to funnel taxpayer dollars to fake health clinics.
As we begin 2026 with Trump and Republican policies squeezing workers, spiking costs, tanking job security, the Republican leadership advances this bill to divert money intended for poor children to dangerous anti-abortion centers.
That is why during last week's markup on this bill, I introduced a responsible amendment that would have prohibited fraudulent centers from receiving TANF funds funded by taxpayer dollars.
I rise today in strong opposition to H.R. 6359, a bill that claims to protect pregnant students but actually mandates that they get less, not more information about their rights.
