Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Sierra College Nevada County Campus

I will take a moment to recognize and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Sierra College Nevada County Campus. First opening its doors to the Nevada County community in 1996, Sierra College has remained dedicated to cultivating students' success by empowering them to achieve their goals and support them in their academic endeavors.

    The Economy

As the Presiding Officer well knows-- because I am about to describe the good people of West Virginia as well as the good people of Louisiana and of many other States--most Americans get up every day. They go to work. They obey the law. They try to teach their children values. They try to do the right thing by their children, and they try to put aside a little money for retirement.

Smithsonian American Women's History Museum Act

I have said it before, and I will say it again: The Smithsonian American Women's History Museum is long overdue, and it deserves a place on The National Mall, period, end of sentence.

    Monitor Accountability Act

Pursuant to House Resolution 1275, I call up the bill (H.R. 8365) to provide for conditions on the appointment of monitors by courts, and for other purposes, and ask for its immediate consideration in the House.

Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act of 2025

I rise today in strong opposition to the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act, which is a truly strange bill. The bill, first of all, refers to violent offenders, but it is unclear exactly why. It applies to all offenders. In any event, it would redefine the business of insurance to include the posting of monetary bail, criminal bail bonds, and Federal immigration bail bonds.

    America Is Not Racist

As we head out for a recess for Memorial Day, I think it is important to address a few issues that have to be countered because the normal mainstream press will not address them.
