Should the House set rules for name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals for college athletes?
Protect College Sports Act of 2026 (H.R. 9137)
College athletes could make NIL deals without schools or the NCAA blocking them, and athletes would get one transfer without losing eligibility.
- Requires athletes to report NIL pay greater than $600 to their school
- Requires agents to register with a state and caps agent endorsement contract fees at 5%
- Bars football personnel from becoming head coach at a different institution in the same season
