Medicare would set separate billing codes for ultralightweight manual wheelchair bases made with titanium or carbon fiber and for those made without them.

• Requires at least two wheelchair base codes, one with titanium or carbon fiber, one without
• Keeps the Medicare payment the same as it would otherwise be
• Lets suppliers bill beneficiaries for any gap between the payment and the actual charge

Programs funding research on ALS and other neurodegenerative disease treatments would continue through FY2031, with added safety reporting and a new FDA plan.

• Reauthorizes NIH grants for research on investigational ALS drugs for people not eligible for clinical trials
• Reauthorizes FDA grants for developing therapies for ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases
• Reauthorizes the FDA and NIH Public-Private Partnership for treatment development and regulatory review
