Should Congress bar the FCC from licensing satellites held by entities on its national security Covered List?
Secure Space Act of 2026 (S. 1962)
The Federal Communications Commission could not license satellites or earth stations, or give U.S. market access, to companies tied to equipment deemed a national security risk.
- Bars satellite licenses, earth station authorizations and U.S. market access for these entities and their affiliates
- Applies to providers of equipment or services on the FCC's Covered List
- Covered List providers include, for example, Huawei Technologies Company and ZTE Corporation
