Should Congress require the Department of Commerce to study making critical infrastructure products in the U.S.?
Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act (H.R. 1721)
The Department of Commerce would have to study which products critical infrastructure sectors need most and whether they could be made in the United States.
- Requires a study identifying high-demand products that are imported because of manufacturing, material, or supply chain constraints
- Requires an analysis of the costs, benefits, and feasibility of making those products in the United States
- Covers sectors vital to national security, the economy, public health or safety
